What to Expect in the First Year

The first year of living your design is often disorienting — and that is correct. Months 1–3: The Not-Self becomes visible. You begin to notice, with increasing frequency and clarity, when you are acting from conditioning versus when you are following your design. This awareness is the beginning of deconditioning. You do not yet have consistent new behaviour — you have new observation. Months 3–6: Small changes accumulate. You begin to wait where you used to rush. Some relationships and situations begin to shift. Months 6–12: The first layer of major conditioning surfaces. Old decisions made from the mind — career choices, relationships entered for the wrong reasons, environments that do not fit — become uncomfortably visible. This can feel like loss. It is actually liberation. Ra called this the "death of the not-self" — not dramatic, but real.
