The 64 Gates: The I Ching Foundation

There are 64 Gates in the Human Design Bodygraph — mapped directly to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, the ancient Chinese oracle. Each Gate represents an archetypal quality of consciousness: a theme, a way of being, a gift, or a challenge. The I Ching was not simply borrowed — it was synthesised into a new system through Ra's 1987 transmission, with each hexagram mapped to a specific point in the Bodygraph based on neutrino stream calculations and the positions of the planets. A Gate becomes activated in your design when any planet (in either your Personality or Design calculation) occupies that position in the neutrino field at birth. Activated Gates appear as numbers along the Channels in your chart. A Gate without its opposite Gate activated is called a "hanging Gate" — the potential for definition, not yet complete.
